Shelter, Showers, and More
Grand Rapids provides several emergency shelters for individuals and families in crisis. Covenant House Michigan offers 24/7 shelter and support for young adults (ages 18–24), while Dégagé Ministries serves up to 100 women nightly through its Open Door Women’s Center, also providing showers, meals, and ID help. Families can turn to ICCF’s Family Haven and Safe Haven Ministries, which offer private rooms, safety services, and round-the-clock staff support. Mel Trotter’s also provides emergency shelter for men and women.
If you’re unsheltered or need help navigating the system, the City’s Homeless Outreach Team (HOT) connects people directly to shelters and resources. Staffed by social workers and first responders, HOT works citywide and can be reached by calling 2-1-1. Additional help is available through the Salvation Army and other partners offering case management and housing referrals.
